SONICS 93, 76ERS 89

Playing without Allen Iverson or coach Larry Brown, Philadelphia was no match for Gary Payton and host Seattle.

Payton scored 29, passing 15,000 for his career, and the Sonics remained alive in the playoff race.

With Iverson, the NBA's leader in scoring and steals, missing the game with a left hip pointer, the Sixers lost their third in a row for the first time this season. Brown is suffering from disorders of the stomach and esophagus and has been having medical tests in Philadelphia.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rockets guard Cuttino Mobley was honored after averaging 27.7 points and 8.7 rebounds to lead the team to three straight wins.

HAWKS: Forward Wright was activated from the injured list after missing four games with a sprained right thumb.

HEAT: Point guard Tim Hardaway, whose age (34) and inconsistent play have raised questions about his future, said he intends to re-sign this summer.
