Downpours on Monday were a relief for the
region, which has been in a state of drought for many
months. The rain also was an early sign of spring, which was evident last week as this bee, at left, is drawn to the flower of a yellow Carolina jasmine at the Cooperative Extension Service in Largo, and as bright red buds flower from a fallen red maple, above, in the Maple Swamp area of Allen Creek's watershed in Clearwater.
At this pond off a path between Florida Botanical Gardens and the Cooperative Extension Service in Largo, Monday's rain dances off water lilies.
