An estimated 10,000 to 12,000 chili lovers flocked to 2001 _ a Chili Odyssey on Friday in Pinellas Park. Firefighters raised about $16,500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. (Last year's festival, the first, raised $6,500.) Here, from left, council member Ed Taylor, city employee Jerry Garner and council member Rick Butler teamed up again this year, with another colorful chili name: Uranus Red. (Last year, they offered Taylor Funeral Home's "You Don't Want to Know What's In It Chili.")
Nancy Hodges and Ray Long, past presidents of the Pinellas Park/Mid- County Chamber of Commerce, man their hillbilly chili booth. The event, at the Country in the Park site, also had a motorcycle show, music and carnival rides.
