Police arrested a 35-year-old man Tuesday on charges of snatching a purse from a woman Friday afternoon in a Winn-Dixie parking lot.
Danny Paul Dubuque, of 14431 Lawrence St., was walking down the street about 2 p.m. when a Dade City police officer recognized him as the suspect.
Linda Caselnova, 42, told police Dubuque grabbed her purse Friday afternoon in the parking lot of the Winn-Dixie at 12689 U.S. 301. She said he jumped into a brown Mercury Grand Marquis driven by a heavyset woman with dark hair.
Dubuque allegedly tried to use Caselnova's credit card about an hour later at the S & A Beauty Supply on Lock Street, but he failed.
He later was arrested around 1 a.m. Saturday on Lock Street on charges of trespassing, though he was released later Saturday.
Caselnova, whose purse also contained a cell phone, was able to get a license tag number from the getaway car.
Fox said it was registered to Cristina Rene Buchanan, of 14934 N. 17th St. in Dade City. Buchanan admitted to driving the car but said she had just picked Dubuque up and knew him only as "Ken." She said she witnessed the robbery but was too scared not to drive away.
Dubuque was charged Tuesday with strong arm robbery and petty theft. He was taken to Land O'Lakes jail, where he remained Tuesday in lieu of $10,500 bail.
Deputies seek suspects
in RV park vandalism
ZEPHYRHILLS _ Pasco County sheriff's deputies were searching for the persons who stole shuffleboard pucks and left obscene messages on chalkboards Monday at a local RV park.
Sue Flynn, manager of Rainbow Village RV Park off Lane Road, told deputies she has had past problems with juveniles trespassing in the park at night and throwing eggs at park trailers.
She said sometime after midnight Monday morning, suspects broke into a storage shed and stole six shuffleboard pucks. They also left graffiti with obscene messages written in chalk on five chalkboards.
There were no witnesses to the event, and deputies had no suspects as of Tuesday.
