Tom Hanks and his son, Colin, each have rooting interests in HBO's upcoming 10-part miniseries Band of Brothers.
The elder Hanks is executive producer of the story, which recounts an Army regiment's journey through World War II. His son appears in the eighth installment of the miniseries, which debuts Sept. 9.
Colin Hanks made his television acting debut in the WB series Roswell. He is the product of Hanks' first marriage to Samantha Lewes.
Sigel charged with assault
PHILADELPHIA _ Hip-hop artist Beanie Sigel has been charged with kicking and punching a driver, the second assault charges filed against him this year.
The 27-year-old, whose real name is Dwight Grant, was arrested Friday on a neighborhood street and charged with aggravated and simple assault.
Police said Sigel and his friends were standing on the sidewalk when Frank Ferrer drove down the street and was unable to get past the group.
Ferrer told police that he got out of his pickup and was jumped and that Sigel kicked and punched him while he was down. Ferrer, 31, was treated for a fractured rib, an eye injury and a concussion.
Sigel's representatives could not be reached for comment Saturday.
BAEZ CANCELS APPEARANCE: Folk musician Joan Baez is canceling a July 21 performance at the University of Pennsylvania because of her sister's life-threatening cancer.
ALL GROWN UP: Britney Spears wants everyone to know she's not a little girl anymore.
That's the message in her third album, due out Nov. 6, and her live concert special from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas airing Nov. 18 on HBO.
"I really want this to be shocking and edgier," Spears, 19, said Friday.
The show will include Spears in a duet with her idol Cher on The Beat Goes On, the old Sonny and Cher hit.
"I want to do things that people have never seen before," Spears said.
