A Miami Dolphins cheerleader won the Miss Florida USA 2002 Pageant on Saturday.
Shannon Ford, a 25-year-old employment recruiter for Mellon Financial Corp., is a Miami native and a graduate of Florida International University. She will represent Florida in the Miss USA Pageant in Gary, Ind.
"I don't think it's hit me yet _ it's all been a whirlwind," said Ford, who had entered the competition as Miss Miami USA. "It will probably take me a couple days, when I see the video."
Ford said she had entered the pageant six years ago, "but I didn't do very well."
Jaclyn Nesheiwat from Umatilla was the first runner-up. The other finalists were Carrie Ann Mewha of St. Petersburg, Erika Valdez of Key West and Shannon Smith of Jacksonville.
