Spunky, a male Yorkie mix, is among the surviving animals recently seized from a farm in Spring Lake. Because of the lack of space at the SPCA, Spunky is in a temporary "foster" home, where he is recovering from heartworm treatment. He is a friendly dog who would get along well with anyone. The SPCA is also looking for donations to help defray the cost of Spunky's heartworm treatment; checks can be sent to the SPCA, P.O. Box 3161, Spring Hill, FL, 34611 (checks should have Spunky's name in the memo area). Inquiries about adopting Spunky or other dogs and cats can be made at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Hernando County, 9075 Grant St., Brooksville. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. Adoption fees include rabies shot, heartworm testing, worming and spay/neuter. Fees for cats also include testing for feline leukemia and AIDS. The cost for dogs is $68; for cats, $58. Visit the Web site at http://www.petshelter.org. For information call 596-7000.
