Separate fires destroy pair of mobile homes

Two mobile homes were destroyed by fire Monday in separate incidents.

Hernando County Fire Rescue firefighters rushed to the first blaze at 16390 Lingle Rd., Lot 4, in Nobleton at 3:45 a.m.

The resident, Timothy Neil Thomas, 49, had burns on his hands and feet from when he tried to escape his bedroom, a sheriff's report said. Thomas opened the door and a rush of fire and heat burned him, he told officials.

While Thomas was taken to Brooksville Regional Hospital firefighters battled the fire, which mostly damaged the north end of the home. The blaze was not labeled suspicious, although an exact cause was not given.

The second fire, at 12423 Cyrano Ave. in northeast Hernando County, was labeled suspicious, however.

No one lived in the abandoned mobile home, which was destroyed at about 9 p.m., a sheriff's report said. No one was injured.
