Board fires teacher facing sex charges

Without any discussion, the Pasco County School Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to fire James Hymiller, the Wesley Chapel teacher accused of engaging in oral sex with a 15-year-old student, school officials said.

Court files show the state attorney's office has not formally filed charges against Hymiller. He was arrested last month on a felony charge of lewd and lascivious battery, but the prosecutors have not decided what charges to pursue in court.

A Pasco County sheriff's detective was scheduled to meet with prosecutors July 11 to turn over evidence in the case.

According to an arrest report, Hymiller, 27, told investigators that he had the girl perform oral sex for him May 25, the last day of school. The report also states that investigators found semen on the girl's pants and matched it to his DNA.

Hymiller remained in county jail Wednesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
