TONIGHT: STORM VS. NEW JERSEY

WHEN/WHERE: 7:30; Ice Palace.

RADIO: WDAE-AM 620.

RECORDS: Storm 9-4, Gladiators 2-11.

COACHES: New Jersey _ Lary Kuharich (35-46, sixth season); Tampa Bay _ Tim Marcum (135-41, 13th season).

SERIES: Tampa Bay leads 4-1.

OUTLOOK: Tampa Bay needs to win and then hope for San Jose or Indiana to lose to sneak into the top four and get a first-round playoff bye. With a win, the Storm would have its fifth 10-win regular season, tying Arizona for No. 1 in league history. Sir Mawn, John Kaleo and Pig Goff are all out with injuries. New Jersey, formerly called the Red Dogs, is last in the league in scoring offense (38.6), total offense and sacks allowed (42). The Storm is first in fewest sacks allowed with eight. Kuharich coached the Storm to the 1993 title, but with a loss will have his third consecutive two-win season. New Jersey quarterback Connell Maynor is a former Storm backup, Gladiator wide receiver Lawrence Samuels played with the Storm from 1994-2000, and defensive back Corey Dowden was the Storm defensive MVP in 1993 and '95.
