NOTES: On the heels of the popular School Bus Figure 8 Race, promoters are offering another strange show, which should appeal to racing fans and those who just like something different. The Great Train Race uses three cars and three drivers. But only the lead driver uses an engine and the rear car has the brakes, so the person in the middle just hangs on for dear life. Promoters said eight train teams have entered, but 10 are expected. This will be the last night of the points season and the next to the last racing date of the year. Still, championships are undecided in the Figure 8, Mini Stock and Street Stock classes. In Figure 8s, No. 89 Ron "Hollywood" Davis leads No. 28 Shane Grigsby by 29 points. In Street Stocks, No. 98 Roger Welch has a 44-point edge on No. 22 Mike Hill. The Mini Stock standings are the closest. Joey Catarelli, No. 65, is just 21 points ahead of No. 55 Tom Zimmerman. Many other drivers will be attempting to move into or higher in the top 10 in their divisions, which means more money on awards night. Look for hard racing all the way around.
