The city of Madeira Beach has promoted three community service employees: Ken Zangara, public works supervisor responsible for maintenance and repairs to the city's streets, stormwater and sewer infrastructure; Wayne Partridge, public works technician II in sewer; and John Nelson, public works technician II in streets.

The city also recognized Chris Mecko, recreation groundskeeper, for 10 years of service; Judy Butler, recreation coordinator, for 15 years; and firefighter-paramedic Don Steger, for 20 years of service.

Eckerd College has named John M. Crowley vice president for institutional advancement.

Crowley previously was vice president of university advancement at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers. He has 29 years of experience as a development professional in public and private education with specializations in alumni relations, public relations and public affairs.

Robin Pitts of Treasure Island won first place in the national music competition, vocal group-rock category, at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in Prescott, Ariz.

Pitts, a combat veteran of Vietnam, is one of more than 100 U.S. military veterans who attended a week of workshops and rehearsals concluding in an art exhibit and stage show. He was chosen to perform at the festival from nearly 3,000 entrants.
