Taji Parrish ran for 102 yards and caught seven passes for 72 yards as Bethune-Cookman scored 29 straight points to beat Howard 29-18 on Saturday.
Bethune-Cookman withstood a number of mistakes, including five fumbles, and capitalized on an equally sloppy performance from Howard. Howard was penalized 21 times for 177 yards.
With seven minutes remaining, Rashean Mathis returned a punt 73 yards for the go-ahead touchdown. Less than three minutes later, Parrish added a 20-yard touchdown run to seal the victory.
Parrish, a senior running back, lined up at five positions throughout the game, including quarterback, safety and punter.
Bethune-Cookman received a delay of game penalty for arriving four minutes after the scheduled kickoff time. The late arrival carried over to the field as Howard took a 12-0 lead just over three minutes into the game.
DRAKE 31, JACKSONVILLE 23: Quarterback Ira Vandever rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 182 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting Drake.
Laron McKinnis also rushed for 119 yards for the Bulldogs, who totaled 465 yards on offense and held the ball for nearly 38 minutes.
Jacksonville took a 23-14 lead when Tyrone Wright returned the second-half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown, but Drake countered with 17 unanswered points beginning with a 16-yard run by McKinnis five minutes into the third quarter.
Billy Cundiff kicked a 49-yard field goal with 3:58 left in the third to give Drake a 24-23 lead. Vandever closed the scoring with 23-yard run early in the fourth quarter.
Dolphin senior running back and King grad Brent Alexander rushed for 106 yards on 14 carries to become the first Jacksonville player to rush for 1,000 yards in a season and 2,000 in a career. He has 1,040 yards this season and 2,041 for his career.
EASTERN ILLINOIS 38, FAU 10: J.R. Taylor ran for 148 yards on 18 carries to lead visiting Eastern Illinois to its fifth consecutive win.
Eastern Illinois totaled 524 offensive yards to just 212 for Florida Atlantic. The Owls have dropped four straight.
Quarterback Tony Romo was 17-for-31 for 241 yards and one touchdown pass for the Panthers. It was the sixth game this season Eastern Illinois has scored at least 38 points.
Jared Allen, who did not start but has been the Owls' primary quarterback, had a concussion in the second quarter and did not return.
