American Legion Post 173 of Holiday is participating in the second annual Thomas Galvin Children's Christmas Party scheduled Dec. 8 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa.
Post members are seeking donations of toys, writing paper, stamps, phone cards and other items for active military families of MacDill Air Force Base and the Coast Guard bases in Clearwater and St. Petersburg.
Drop-off locations for the gift items American Legion Post 173, 4550 Bartlet Road, Holiday; Veterans of Foreign Wars Chester McKay Post 7987, 7445 Chester McKay Drive, New Port Richey; and a Neat Little Place, Mile Stretch Drive, Holiday, opposite the fire station.
Last year, Post 173 raised more than $6,000 for the event at MacDill Air Force Base, where 109 children were given presents and entertained for several hours. There were pony rides, a petting zoo and clowns. Donna Charlton, president of the American Legion Auxiliary 173, hopes the party this year will be equally successful.
Deadline to make donations is Dec. 1.
