Most of the players didn't attend school the next day. The pain of coming so close to earning their first state title was too much to bear.
But for Chelsea Lazar, Nicole Britenriker and Carla Tagarelli, there was something to divert their attention. They attended the wedding of Lazar's older sister, Summer.
"That loss kind of lingers, but this is something to take my mind off of it," Lazar said.
The volleyball bond that united the 16 players on the team came to an end with Thursday's loss. The season is over, and the three seniors on the team _ Kelly Millard, Ashley Garee and Ashley Zarle _ will graduate in the spring.
But there is one encouraging thing. Five of the six starters return next season.
"The state title is ours next year," Britenriker said.
