Citrus honors freedom's defenders

HISTORY ON PARADE: The VFW Ladies Auxiliary 7122 put together a float themed Freedom's Past and Present for Saturday's parade in downtown Inverness. On the float were representatives of veterans throughout American history. The float won a trophy for Best Veterans Auxiliary.

TEARS AND LAUGHTER: Joe Wirthman, above, an Army veteran, wipes his eyes as he and other veterans are recognized for their service during a Monday morning Veterans Day ceremony at the District Services Center in Inverness. Wes Stow, right, of Crystal River performs as comedian Bob Hope at Rock Crusher Canyon Pavilion on Sunday. The show was modeled on Hope's USO performances for troops.
