Pedestrian hit, injured while crossing U.S. 19

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating the identity of a man injured crossing U.S. 19 south of Fox Hollow Drive late Sunday.

According to a report, the man was crossing on foot at 10:45 p.m. Sunday from west to east, 448 feet south of Fox Hollow, when he was struck by a 1991 Toyota driven by James A. Margentino, 52, 3327 Eisenhower Drive, Holiday. Neither James nor Ann Margentino, a passenger in the Toyota, were injured in the crash.

The pedestrian was flown by medical helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

Troopers said the accident was alcohol-related and charges are pending.

The man who was hit was described as white and in his early 50s. Troopers asked that anyone with information about the man call (800) 500-1240.
