From the ring to the radio

Chad Brock isn't a household name, but with three albums and last year's huge hit single Yes! under his belt, he's on his way to changing that.

Country singer Brock is now touring in support of his new album III, which was released last month.

Born and raised in Ocala, Brock had an interest in both sports and music while living in Florida. Though a talented high school athlete, he gave up a college football scholarship to pursue a career in music and moved to Nashville in 1992.

But record deals don't come overnight, so Brock had to get a job to hold him over. He ended up touring as a member of World Championship Wrestling until an injury sidelined him. By then, the record deal materialized, and Brock switched over to music full time. His self-titled debut album was released in 1998.

Brock performs after the Florida State University-University of Florida football game at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday at the Round Up, 13918 W Hillsborough Ave., Tampa. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 day of show, (813) 855-1229
