As Victoria's Secret marketing director, Ed Razek is responsible for the sexy commercials that have appeared on TV for years and the fashion show that crashed a Web site.
Yes, Razek said, the models are his friends. And yes, he gets to be with them at glamorous locations.
"It is a spectacular job. . . . I really enjoy doing it, but it isn't running in the ocean with supermodels. It's a big business," Razek said.
And it's ready for prime time.
The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show airs as a one-hour special at 9 tonight on ABC (WFTS-Ch. 28), the first network broadcast of the annual event after two years on the Internet.
Rupert Everett will host the $5-million holiday-themed production taped Tuesday at New York's Bryant Park. It will include Andrea Bocelli, a 50-piece orchestra, comedy skits, and Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum and 23 other models wearing Victoria's Secret lingerie.
"It's a huge deal," Razek said.
Another huge deal Razek put together was the February 1999 Web show that Internet experts say drew one of the largest numbers of people trying to view a Web broadcast at the same time. The site was brought down within 20 minutes.
