Panel supports combined housing, commercial plan

Plans for a new complex of multifamily housing and commercial units got initial approval Wednesday when the Hernando County Planning and Zoning Commission agreed to recommend the project to the County Commission.

Plans call for BNG Partners Inc. to build 200 units on about 15 acres and put commercial development on another five on the south side of Yontz Road and the west side of U.S. 98. The planning commission voted unanimously to recommend it.

Florida Power substation

earns recommendation

BROOKSVILLE _ Florida Power got a go-signal on Wednesday from the Planning and Zoning Commission to build an electrical substation at the Hernando County Airport.

The commission unanimously voted to recommend the company's plans to the County Commission. The company wants the substation to serve growth at the airport and in Masaryktown, and to reduce the load on two existing substations.
