HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

BAYS, DUANE L., 62, of Tampa, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002). He was owner and founder of The Fourth Dimension and was a member of St. Marks Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Mary; his children, Dee Mills, Tampa, Troy Aves, Garden Plain, Kan., Deborah Andrews and Duane L. CORNES, LINDA, 57, of Brandon, died Friday (March 15, 2002) in Brandon. Born in Johnstown, Pa., she came to the Tampa area 25 years ago from Johnstown. She was a homemaker, a member of the Florida Bowling Lanes and attended First Christian Church of Brandon. Survivors include a sister, Jo Ruble, Brandon; and a brother, Jeffrey, Brandon. DUNN, EDWARD B. JR., 72, of Thonotosassa, died Monday (March 18, 2002) in Tampa. Born in Wharton, N.J., he came to the Tampa area in 1985 from Lake Hopatcong, N.J. He was a metal parts inspector for the U.S. Government, an Army veteran of the Korean War and past commander of American Legion Post 26 in Plant City. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Dunn; a daughter, Elizabeth Ortiz, Long Valley, N.J.; a son, Edward Dunn III, Thonotosassa; two sisters, Mary Warner, Lake Hopatcong, and Helen Jameson, Andover, N.J.; and two grandchildren. GILBERT, NORMAN JR., 70, of Tampa, died Tuesday (March 19, 2002) at James A. Haley VA Medical Center. Born in Fairfield, Maine, he was a retired warehouseman and a Korean War veteran. Survivors include his companion, Maxine Elliott; two sons, Dan L. and Carl A., both of Tampa; and four grandchildren. Swilley Funeral Home, Tampa.

HAM, JULIA INEZ, 92, of Lakeland, formerly of Plant City, died Monday (March 18, 2002) at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. Born in Kathleen, she was a longtime resident of the Tampa area. She was a homemaker and a member of Southside Baptist Church of Plant City. Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Webb, Lakeland, and Juanita Norman, Plant City; four sons, Gary Ham, Plant City, Donald Ham, Independence, Va., Murice Green, Jacksonville, and Hershell Green, Edgewater; and 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. HOBSON, JOEL C., 56, of San Antonio, Fla., formerly of Tampa, died Friday (March 15, 2002) at home. Born in Besemer, Ala., he moved to San Antonio in 1974 from Tampa. He was a planner analyst with Tampa Electric for 34 years and a member of N.N.B.A. of TECO. He was an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; two sons, Timothy, San Antonio, and Kevin, Zephyrhills; two brothers, William, Falls Church, Va., and Kenneth, Pinson, Ala.; three sisters, Myra and Sherry, Alabama, and Becky, Atlanta; and a granddaughter. RICHARDSON, HETTIE ELLEN, 88, of Valrico, died Monday (March 18, 2002) in Brandon. Born in Pineville, Ky., she came to the Tampa area 18 years ago from Cleveland, Tenn. She was an accountant for Church of God World Missions and a member of Riverhills Church of God, Clearwater, and Westmore Church of God. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Carl Richardson, Valrico. RUSSELL, WILLIAM H., 75, of Tampa, died Saturday (March 16, 2002). Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Sue; three sons, John, Patrick and William; and four grandchildren. Mark III Funeral Home, Tampa.

SLUDER, KATHRYN ELIZABETH, 35, of Dover, died Saturday (March 16, 2002) in Dover. Born in Jacksonville, she came to the Tampa area in 1973 from Jackson, Miss. She was a geologist and a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, Israel Micah Sluder Anderson, Dover; her parents, Thomas J. and Judith Sluder Jr., Dover; a sister, Theresa Sluder, Sarasota; two brothers, Thomas J. Sluder III, Boone, N.C., and Keith J. Sluder, Dover; and her maternal grandmother, Ruby Willhelm, Jacksonville. Hopewell Funeral Home, Plant City.

VAZQUEZ, CARMELO SANTOS, 88, of Tampa, died Friday (March 15, 2002). Survivors include his wife, Severa; four sons; six daughters; 34 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Gonzalez Funeral Home, Tampa.

WERKER, MARGARET C., 97, of Tampa, died Monday (March 18, 2002). She was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church. Survivors include three grandsons, Michael, Anthony Paul and Steve Stone. Blount, Curry & Roel Funeral Homes & Cemeteries, Carrollwood Chapel, Tampa.

WHITE, FRANK R., 64, of Tampa, died Saturday (March 16, 2002) at home. Born in Detroit, he came here in 1988 from Detroit. He was a systems engineer in computerized healthcare industry. Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; two daughters, Pamela Parker, Los Angeles, and Jeanne Bowser, Ormond Beach; a son, Larry, Daytona Beach; a stepdaughter, Aimee Sparkman, Palm Harbor; a stepson, Todd Bullock, Lake Worth; a sister, Phyllis Freeman, San Francisco; and six grandchildren.
