A veteran Pasco County sheriff's corrections deputy has resigned amid an internal affairs investigation into her conduct, officials said.
Sharon DeCosmo, 40, submitted a letter of resignation March 1. In it she stated that she had "decided to seek other opportunities which may be available."
DeCosmo's resignation became effective March 4, according to documents in her personnel file at the Sheriff's Office.
On Wednesday, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said the agency is investigating "an incident" involving DeCosmo. Because the investigation is ongoing, he declined to comment.
DeCosmo, who was hired 12 years ago, could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
Doll said her resignation was not related to the attendance falsification records scandal at Pasco-Hernando Community College.
