Horse riding to aid Shiners Hospital

Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Triple B Riding Club is sponsoring a horseback ride Saturday at the Green Swamp in Dade City, to benefit the hospital.

Participants collect donations in advance and have the option of riding their horse or taking a wagon ride through the swamp. If participants collect $40, they will receive a Saddle-Up for Shriners Hospital T-shirt and if $150 is collected participants will receive a Saddle-Up sweat shirt.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the 8-mile trail ride will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be sold from 11 a.m. to noon, or participants may bring a picnic lunch.

Auctions and raffles, pony rides, face painting and other entertainment will be held from noon to 2 p.m. For information and directions to the Green Swamp, call Mary Lou Sapp at (813) 759-8255.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 hospitals across North America providing expert medical care at no cost to children with orthopaedic problems, burns and spinal cord injuries.
