SECO ANNOUNCES 2002 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Up to 12 high school seniors from Sumter Electric Cooperative's service territory (Marion, Citrus, Lake, Sumter, Pasco, Levy and Hernando counties) will receive scholarships from the co-op this year. Students chosen to receive a SECO Youth Scholarship this year will receive $1,000. To qualify, graduates must reside in a home served by SECO and be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or vocational/technical school by the end of 2002. Selection will be based on past and present achievements in school and the community, financial need, and scholastic record. Application forms are available now at all SECO offices and guidance offices of area high schools. Deadline is March 29.

TREA SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE: The Retired Enlisted Association is offering a college scholarship for dependents of its members. For information or applications, call Carmen Gonsalves at 465-2887 or fax 465-7525. Deadline is April 30.

SUGARMILL CHORALE SCHOLARSHIP: The Sugarmill Chorale is offering a vocal music scholarship, up to $1,000, to a Citrus County high school senior who plans to continue studies leading to a career in some aspect of vocal music. To be eligible, a student must be a resident of Citrus County, enrolled in an accredited college or music conservatory or studying with a recognized voice teacher and be planning a career in vocal music, either as a performer, teacher, music therapist or other recognized field.

Applicants will be required to attend an audition at which they will be asked to perform one vocal selection of their own choice. The winner will be selected by the Chorale Scholarship Committee.

Money to fund the scholarship is raised by the chorale through its two annual concerts, one given at the Christmas holiday season, the other in the spring. The latter event for this year is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Homosassa, 8831 W. Bradshaw St. Tickets for the concert at $6 each are currently on sale and available from chorale members or by calling 382-3498.

Application forms are available at the Guidance Departments of all Citrus County public high schools and private schools having a K through 12 program. Additional forms are available by calling 382-3498. Deadline is April 12. Applicants will be contacted to arrange auditions.
