Sunken Gardens throws a big party once a year to celebrate the butterfly.

This year's festival, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, brings 200 extra butterflies to the garden's walk-through butterfly enclosure and a lineup of activities about butterflies.

Gardening experts will talk about butterfly-friendly gardening and how to attract butterflies at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2. Plants that butterflies savor will be for sale.

Other festivities include crafts for children, parrot shows and reptile exhibitions. Festival activities are free with regular gardens admission of $7 adult, $5 seniors (55 and older) and $3 children ages 3-11.

Sunken Gardens is at 1825 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg. (727) 551-3100.
