Circuit Judge Patricia Thomas has recused herself from hearing the legal challenges to Halls River Retreat, the 54-unit time share complex the County Commission approved last month. Thomas' March 15 notice of recusal, which does not cite a reason, came the day after two groups filed challenges to the commission's decision. The Save the Homosassa River Alliance and Protect Our Waterways say the evidence presented at the Feb. 12 commission hearing did not support approval of the project. They are asking a judge to find fault with the commission's decision and order a new vote. The region's chief judge will assign the cases to another judge.
