Cowboy cheerleaders

Scantily clad dancing women who entertained crowds during a soccer match in Singapore have been given a red card. The Football Association of Singapore told the Woodlands Football Club the dancers were not appropriate family entertainment. Dancers were dressed in white tops and revealing white wrap skirts. They performed at only one game and were hired by an "exuberant official," club spokesman Alex Chacko said. The club still plans entertainment. "Maybe we'll have pompom girls; but not dancing girls," Chacko said.

Ever see one of those soccer referees and think to yourself, "I could do that"? (Well, probably not given attendance at Mutiny games.) Turns out, you have to be in shape. Today, potential World Cup referees will be given fitness tests in Seoul, South Korea, one of the sites of this year's event. They must run 2,700 meters (about 1 miles) in 12 minutes, 200 meters in 32 seconds and 50 meters in 7.5 seconds.
