Tanya and Jerry Brecher of Dunedin recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise.
It was love at first sight when they met at their local synagogue in Philadelphia more than half a century ago. He proposed two weeks later, and they were married Feb. 17, 1952, in Philadelphia.
They came here in 1993 from Cherry Hill, N.J. They owned and operated a dress shop for 45 years in Philadelphia. They have three children and six grandchildren. They are members of Ahavat Shalom Reform Temple, Palm Harbor.
She is an entertainer who enjoys singing and dancing and a volunteer at San Jose Elementary School. He is a World War II veteran and enjoys walks on the Dunedin Causeway and riding his bike.

Phyllis and Elmer Donnelly of Oldsmar celebrated their Golden Anniversary with a luncheon party at East Lake Woodlands Country Club hosted by their children, Nancy, David and Tim, from Seattle and Maryland. Attending were their four grandchildren and family and friends. They were married in Washington, D.C., on Washington's birthday, Feb. 22, 1952.
They came here in 1987 after he retired from the Military Sealift Command in Washington. His career in ocean transportation began in 1942 at the Boston Army Base and through the years he worked in Washington, New York, Italy and Germany and is a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II. She retired after holding several federal government positions in Washington and New York. She enjoys travel, reading, painting and music and he is a sports fan.

Marilyn and Raymond Durbin of Dunedin celebrated their 50th anniversary with a picnic for family and friends and plan a cruise next month to the Panama Canal Zone with family. They were married Feb. 23, 1952, at Greece United Methodist Church of Rochester, N.Y.
They came here in 1973 from Rochester, where he worked for 28 years with General Railway Systems and she worked six years as a credit correspondent for G-Mac and four years as secretary of the Rochester Women's Bowling Association. Locally, he worked as supervisor of retail services for 22 years with the Clearwater Post Office. They have a daughter, Linda Guerin, and two grandsons, John R. and Justin R. Foraker.
They are members of Countryside Mixers Bowling League, and she is a member of the Tuesday AM Coffee Bowling League at Rainbow Lanes. He is a Young American Bowling Alliance coach and executive secretary of the Pinellas County High School Spring Bowling League.

Joan and Robert Jayne of Safety Harbor recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a three-day cruise to the Bahamas and a party for friends and family. They were married March 1, 1952, in Pennsylvania.
They came here in 1973. He worked locally for the Tampa Tribune and she is a homemaker. They have two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
