Two teenagers were in critical condition Friday night after their motorbike was struck by a minivan, said Pasco County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Mike Ciccarello.
The teens were struck at Delmar Drive and Heron Lane at 7:05 p.m., and they did not appear to be wearing helmets, Ciccarello said.
A 17-year-old boy suffered head and lower leg injuries; and a girl, 16 or 17, suffered from more severe head trauma and leg injuries, Ciccarello said. The teens were flown by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.
Kathy Marston, who lives at Delmar and Heron, said both of the teens were thrown from the bike. Marston said the boy went through her wooden fence and landed in her front yard. No further details on the accident were available Friday night.
