Saturday morning's 24 knot winds did not deter participants in the Old Salt's 15th Annual TV John Trolling Tournament held at Leverock's in St. Pete Beach. All fish were caught on a trolled lure; no dead or live bait was used.

Eric Bachnik on Shelby's Dream won the Master Angler. Bachnik caught each of the tournament's species: kingfish (5 pounds), Spanish mackerel (3.08), bonita (6.94) and grouper (7.08).

The largest grouper (11.82) was caught on Bay Pines Marina by Dave Travis, who used a hard-bodied lure. Travis was fishing between the Indian Shores reef and the Betty Rose. Sound Waves brought in the biggest king mackerel (8.88). The kings were located near the end of the Egmont channel from markers 5 and 6 out to the Whistler buoy, Capt. Mark Ternes said.

Art Dimter on Lady Physalia returned with the biggest Spanish mackerel (3.66). Dimter used a lure he won in the captain's meeting raffle two days earlier. Dragon Anchor found the first-place bonita (6.58) between the Rube Allen reef and the Whistler, Ron Dubois said.

Christopher Galati, 5, received an armload of lures for winning the youth division with his 6.44-pound king mackerel.
