Erin Fitzgerald, 17, and a senior at Land O'Lakes High, competed in the Taste of Florida finals in Miami during the weekend. Her dish was Citrus ginger encrusted tuna. Fitzgerald and her family, along with her instructor, Bob Wright, and his family, were guests of the Johnson and Wales Culinary College in Miami. The college sponsored the contest. She was one of 10 finalists statewide who competed Saturday. She received a plaque and is eligible for a $1,000 renewable scholarship for four years at the college. "She worked with the top chefs of the college," Wright said. "We have no idea how she placed in the 10 finalists, as they only announced first and second place."
