Thieves tie up man, steal 2 safes

Pinellas County sheriff's detectives were searching Sunday night for three men in connection with a home invasion robbery in Seminole on Sunday afternoon.

The men, at least two of whom were armed with silver or chrome handguns, forced their way into a home near 86th Avenue and Oakhurst Road at about 2:30 p.m., said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Marianne Pasha. Once inside, they tied up the owner, a man whom deputies did not identify, and stole two large safes, Pasha said.

Detectives were still trying to determine Sunday night what else was missing. The men drove off in a black Nissan Maxima, she said. The victim was later able to free himself and was uninjured, Pasha said. Descriptions were provided of two of the three suspects. The first was white, about 6-foot-1, 200 to 210 pounds, clean-shaven with short brown hair and was wearing jeans and a light-colored shirt. The second suspect was described as white with dark hair, jeans and a dark-colored shirt.

Detectives had no description of the third man. Anyone with information about the men, the vehicle or the safes is asked to contact the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at (727) 582-6200 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-873-8477.
