A balance between business, pleasure

(ran TP edition)

Section Manager, Hillsborough County RSVP

By working part-time, Enrique Cartaya can enjoy his two loves _ family and sports.

"I am very grateful to the Working Senior Program for their assistance," Cartaya says.

Cartaya came to the program wanting to return to the work force. He retired five years ago, after 26 years as an administrative assistant. The program placed him within two weeks, and he is now working in a real estate office, dealing with leases and rentals.

Cartaya is a native of Havana. His parents sent him to Tampa at a young age to stay with relatives; he then attended school in Ybor City. He returned to Cuba after his father's death. While there, he continued his education and met his wife, Mercedes, to whom he has been married for 38 years.

The Cartayas moved back to Tampa, where he pursued a career in accounting and business management. He soon found a job at a food company, where he worked as an administrative assistant. Enrique retired to spend more time with his family and follow his love of sports, especially baseball and football. Working part-time gives him the time he needs to enjoy his passions.
