Two former altar boys have sued their former priest and the Archdiocese of Miami, accusing the priest of repeatedly sexually abusing them more than 20 years ago.

Stephen Calvert and Scott Melanson, both 37, accused the Rev. Ronald John Luka, now 65, of assault, battery, infliction of emotional distress and other harm.

The suit accuses Luka of molesting the boys in 1976 at his Fort Lauderdale home and during overnight religious retreats and a cross-country trip during the summer of 1978.

Miami attorney Joel Magolnick, who is representing the men, said they did not want to speak publicly about the case.

Luka could not immediately be reached for comment. Richard Leamy, a Chicago attorney for Luka's religious order, said Luka has been an inactive priest for at least two years.

Mary Ross Agosta, spokeswoman for the Archdiocese of Miami, said she could not comment on a pending lawsuit.
