The city of Tampa Solid Waste Department is offering household hazardous waste and electronics collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at 4010 W Spruce St.
Residents may dispose of paints, thinners, waste oil, garden and pool chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, mercury thermometers, computers and televisions.
Participants must be Tampa residents and provide a current utility bill.
Man charged in fatal
shooting of grandson
TAMPA _ Hillsborough sheriff's deputies have charged a Tampa man with manslaughter in the shooting death of his 20-year-old grandson in May.
Deputies said Nelson Violette, 64, of 8834 Nautilus Drive shot his grandson, Charles Johnson of Fellsmere, once in the back at close range as Johnson visited Violette's home on May 11 at 5 a.m.
Violette told investigators he was drunk at the time of the shooting and did not remember what happened.
After turning himself in Monday at the Orient Road jail, he was released on $27,500 bail.
