The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is asking for public participation as part of its upcoming accreditation team assessment.
A team of assessors from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation will visit the Sheriff's Office in August. On Aug. 7, from 1 to 5 p.m., residents can call toll-free 1 (800) 682-3217 and leave up to 10-minute messages about the agency.
The messages must pertain to the Sheriff's Office's ability to meet accreditation standards. Copies of the standards are available through the Sheriff's Office by calling (727) 844-7733 or at www.flaccreditation.org.
Criminals using guns targeted in new program
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has received a $50,000 grant as part of a statewide program to crack down on criminals who use guns.
Pasco was one of seven county sheriff's offices to get money for its work in the program.
The money will fund programs in crime prevention and the sheriff's unit that targets crime in specific neighborhoods, sheriff's spokesman Kevin Doll said.
