Officers for VFW, auxiliary honored

Incoming officers of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8681 and the Ladies Auxiliary were recognized at a recent installation ceremony and dinner at the post home in Shady Hills.

Post officers are headed by Don Blake, commander.

Kenny Richey, is junior vice commander; Skip Ciagala, quartermaster; Bob Humphrey, judge advocate; Steve Sams, surgeon; Jim Becker, chaplain and George Platt, adjutant.

Mary Howard will lead activities of the Ladies Auxiliary as president.

She will be assisted by Debbie Howard, senior vice president; Linda LaFond, junior vice president; Sue Sams, treasurer; Linda Webster, secretary; Angie Pruitt, chaplain; Dottie Becker, conductress and Skippy Blake, guard.

Earlier in June, Blake was honored on his birthday at the Post Canteen with special entertainment provided by John Fogerty and Bob Woods, post members.

The public is invited to a regular spaghetti dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays followed by bar bingo; fish night with Capt. Jim's catch of the week is served from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday and bingo night is at 6 p.m. on Fridays. Steak night is from 5 to 7 p.m. the first Saturday of the month followed by music in the Post Canteen.
