After nine years coaching one of south county's top programs, Sheryl Hollen is leaving Northeast.
Hollen, who guided the Vikings to a 17-6 record and a playoff berth this season, works as a technology specialist at Clearview Elementary and said the time commitment for softball became too great.
"The hours of year after year after year get to you," Hollen said. "I had just had enough. I've been trying actually for the last two years to (leave), I just kept getting that special team and said, "Wait until next year.'
"I still have that special team, I just had to stop sometime."
Hollen's Vikings won Pinellas County Athletic Conference south county titles four times in the past seven years.
