HILLSBOROUGH OBITUARIES

AURTY, GENOWEFA, 56, of Temple Terrace, died Monday (July 22, 2002). Born in Homburt-Saar, Germany, she was raised in Brazil and moved to the United States in 1963. She served in the Army for 15 years. Survivors include her husband, Dennis; three children, Jeff Sutliff, Regina Braun and Deryl Autry; a sister, Leocadia Mastrianni; and a granddaughter, Nichole. CLEMONS, LUCINDY McCALL, 78, of Tampa, died Friday (July 19, 2002). Born in Climax, Ga., she moved to the Tampa area several years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her son, Eddie McCall Jr., Tampa; a daughter, Hattie J. McCarter, Tampa; three sisters, Hazel Anderson, Attapulgus, Ga., Sara Williams, Jacksonville, and Ora Lee James; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. EDWARDS, MARY PATRICIA, 70, of Pensacola, formerly of Tampa, died Monday (July 22, 2002). Survivors include four daughters, Patti Anne Potter, Wimauma, Kathleen Moye, East Palatka, Karen Van Dulken, Valdosta, Ga., and Eileen Monroe, Tampa; three stepdaughters, Pat Hayes, Broadview, Ill., and Judy Wilkinson and Mimo Barnett, both of Richmond, Va.; her son, John Wendel, Tampa; her stepson, Ted Edwards, Richmond; two brothers, Peter Buckley, California, and James Buckley, New Jersey; three sisters, Claire Frank, Beverly Kovach and Eileen Olenik, all of Florida; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. FERNANDEZ, ADELFIO, 84, of Tampa, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002). Born in Philadelphia, he moved to Tampa 38 years ago. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Esperanza; a daughter, Maria Fernandez Mesagno; two brothers, Elio and Rolando Fernandez; two sisters, Aida Lauzrique and Aurelia Saavedra; and two granddaughters, Sasha and Sajia Mesagno. FISCHER, ALICE A. ONEIL "MA FISCHER," 96, of Tampa, died Sunday (July 21, 2002). She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. FLUTY, KENNETH M., 86, of Tampa, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002). Born in Lawrence, Mass., he moved to Tampa several years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran, a production manager for Ladoes Sportswear and was Catholic. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Rodriguez; three sons, Brian Williams, Kenneth Fluty Jr. and Robert Fluty; four grandchildren, Angelica Passow, Joshua Rodriguez, Jasmine Rodriguez and Cindy Thomason; and two great-grandchildren. FOLTS, MARIE LOUISE, 81, of Valrico, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002) in Brandon. Born in New York City, she was a homemaker. Survivors include her son, James Folts, Friendsville, Tenn.; four daughters, Joanne Mackey and Rosemary Pate, both of Cary, N.C., Patricia Flynn, Valrico, and Carol Jackson, Ocala; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. GUERRA, MERY, 93, of Tampa, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002). Born in Barbacoas, Columbia, she moved to Tampa seven years ago. Survivors include two daughters, Caridad Yacup and Yolanda Economides; a son, Eduardo Guerra; and three sisters, Marialuisa, Delfida and Zoila Guerra. Gonzalez Funeral Home, Tampa.

HALL, NILES L., 64, of Plant City, died Tuesday (July 23, 2002). Survivors include his wife; three sons; one sister; and five grandchildren. Haught Funeral Home, Plant City.

KNOX, WILLIE MAE, 85, of Tampa, died Friday (July 19, 2002) at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Adel, Ga., she moved to Tampa many years ago. She was a cook at Williams Elementary School and a member of First Baptist Church of College Hill. Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Knox Thomas, Tampa; six grandchildren, Debra C. Daniels, Mae Garland, Laurie Harris, Joy Johnson, Gail Washington and James Leroy Murry III, all of Tampa; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. LAURENT, JAMES E., 68, of Plant City, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002). Born in Fort Towson, Okla., he moved to the Tampa area 25 years ago from Illinois. He was vice president for Hydro Argi of North America and was a member of St. Peters Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife, Helena; two sons, Luke Laurent, Atlanta, and Jack Laurent, Milwaukee; a daughter, Beth Laughlin, Saudi Arabia; and three grandchildren. Haught Funeral Home, Plant City.

LEGG, BEULAH, 86, of Tampa, died Monday (July 22, 2002). Born in Ohio, she moved to Tampa in 1967 from Columbus, Ohio. She was a member of the Eagles, Delaware, Ohio, and was Baptist. Survivors include a son, John Frazer, Tampa; a daughter, Mary Jane Jones, Marion, Ohio; a sister, Hazel Hines, Ashley, Ohio; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. MARTIN, JANETT S., 51, of Tampa, died Thursday (July 18, 2002). Born in Miami, she moved to Tampa in 1972. She was a city clerk for the city of Tampa and a member of the board of directors of Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union. She was a member of St. James House of Prayer Episcopal Church, the NAACP and Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Survivors include her husband, Marvin L.; three sons, Marvin Jr., Morris and Maurice; her mother, Sally Spraggins; and her brother, Donald Spraggins, Miami. Wilson Funeral Home, Tampa.

MARTIN, LYDIA V., 76, of Tampa, died Friday (July 19, 2002). Survivors include her daughter, Eileen Peck, Arizona; two sons, Michael Johnson, Webster, and Gene Johnson, Tampa; two sisters, Shirley Benson and Edwina Carter; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. OXLEY, RONALD C., 38, of Tampa, died Saturday (July 20, 2002). Born in Carteret, N.J., he moved to Tampa in 1995 and was a construction worker. Survivors include his mother, Bernice Oxley, Hurricane, W.Va.; two brothers, Roger Oxley, Tampa, and Rick Oxley, Fort Lauderdale; a sister, Cheryl Renee Maldonado, Tampa; and his maternal grandmother, Dolly Fisher, Culloden, W.Va. ROSSER, FANNIE "SIS," 79, of Tampa, died Tuesday (July 23, 2002). She was past president of American Legion Auxiliary Post III, a member of VFW Auxiliary 424 and a volunteer at the VA hospital. Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Cook, Tampa, and Patricia Johnson, Turkey Creek, La.; two sons, James and Robert, both of Tampa; two brothers, Randolph and Purvis Pettys; two sisters, Katie Newton and Lura Bailey; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. WINTERBAUER, OLIVE SUSAN, 78, of Tampa, died Wednesday (July 24, 2002).
