The Key Center Run for the Money runners remained on schedule and in good spirits Thursday, making it to Chiefland as expected.
Key official Cabot McBride said the five runners who participated didn't have to deal with any rain, which was good. Unfortunately, they also did not get much cloud cover, making the work extremely taxing.
The run is a 180-mile trek along U.S. 19 from Tallahassee to the Key headquarters in Lecanto. Runners will be at it again this morning, trying to log miles early before the heat sets in.
The run concludes Saturday at Key headquarters with a celebration and fundraising telethon.
The Run for the Money is the Key's annual fundraising event. The agency serves mentally retarded clients in Citrus County.
