Tammy Jones, a disabled Air Force veteran from Zephyrhills, competed in the 22nd National Veterans Wheelchair Games held recently in Cleveland. With about 500 athletes from 44 states, Puerto Rico and Great Britain, this is the largest annual wheelchair sports event in the world. Jones, 34, is a quadriplegic and is receiving care at the VA medical facility in Tampa. She competed in the following events: field-club, slalom, powerchair 220 and air guns. She won gold in the power slalom and gold in the powerchair 220 and a bronze in the field event for club toss.
