Food for needy to be given away Wednesday

Citrus County Support Services announces the next Commodity Food Distribution is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at both distribution centers: the Citrus County Auditorium, 3610 S U.S. 41 (the fairgrounds), Inverness, and the West Citrus Community Center, 8940 W Veterans Drive, Homosassa. Both centers will be open until 1 p.m. unless all commodities are given out before that time.

New registration will be held on site with written proof of all household income and proper photo I.D. Eligible individuals cannot send written permission, which allows others to pick up their allotment, without first signing up. One of the following is acceptable as proof of income: VA, AFDC, SSI, SS, child support, retirement and pensions, check stub for employment, unemployment or workers' compensation, letter of decision for Food Stamps or proof of residence for public housing.

Per-month household income guidelines are as follows:

One person: $960 or less.

Two people: $1,294 or less.

Three people: $1,628 or less.

Four people: $1,961 or less.

Five people: $2,295 or less.

Acceptance and participation in the program are the same for everyone without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex or disability. Only one allotment per household. Please bring boxes to carry food home. Do not contact the distribution centers. If you have a question, please call Support Services at 527-5410.
