Led by sophomore Brenno Varanda in the boys meet and by excellent depth in the girls meet, Northeast captured both championships at Bobby Hicks Pool.
Varanda won the 200-yard intermediate medley in 2:01.28, and also swam on the victorious 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams. Chris John, Bobby Angel and John Sadler swept the 100-yard backstroke as Northeast won the title for the second straight year.
The top three finishers in each event qualified for the state meet next week in Fort Lauderdale.
Northeast's girls used three top-10 finishes in diving to edge Plant by 16 points Friday night.
Osceola's Alex Tilbrook defended his diving title and teammate Lauren Permuy won her first title. _ JOEL POILEY
