Goals no longer elude Audette, Canadiens

Donald Audette scored 1:12 into overtime for the Canadiens, who got a career-best three goals from Saku Koivu in a 5-4 win Monday night over the Penguins.

Audette, who ended a 23-game scoring drought Saturday against New Jersey, beat goalie Johan Hedberg for the winner.

Pittsburgh's Mario Lemieux had two assists and scored his 10th goal with 8:49 left in the third to tie it.

BOL HANGS UP SKATES?: Manute Bol's hockey career apparently is over. The 7-foot-7 former NBA player signed with the CHL's Indianapolis Ice last week but left town Sunday for his home in Hartford, Conn. PR director Jason Burkman said Bol probably will not return. Bol spent part of Saturday's game against Amarillo on the bench before his arthritic feet began swelling inside his custom-made skates.

BLUES: Forward Jamal Mayers will miss the season after tearing right knee ligaments Friday at Edmonton. He will have surgery in 3-4 weeks.

PENGUINS: The league fined defenseman Marc Bergevin $1,000 for verbally abusing an official Saturday against the Islanders.

SABRES: Goalie Ryan Miller, who had an NCAA-record 37 shutouts with Michigan State, was recalled from AHL and will debut at New Jersey today as the Sabres attempt to end an 11-game winless streak.
