Homes tour to raise funds for women's club

Tickets are available for the Historical Tour of Homes on Dec. 15 in downtown Brooksville.

Tickets are $10 each. Three tours are available: 1 p.m., 1:45 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The tour is a fundraising event for the Brooksville Woman's Club. Money raised will go to local charities, as well as the building fund for the 80-year-old club. Members are working on a grant to renovate the facility and place it on the National Register of Historic Places.

State Highway Patrol to inspect cars, licenses

The Florida Highway Patrol will conduct driver's license and vehicle inspections through Sunday along the following Hernando County roads: Emerson Road, Hayman Road and Lake Lindsey Road.

Inspection checkpoints will also be in Sumter County on County Road 673, C.R. 468 and State Road 48; in Citrus County on Lecanto Highway, Turner Camp Road and Withlacoochee Trail; and in Pasco County on Bolton Avenue, Otis Allen Road and Morningside Drive.

Troopers will concentrate their efforts on vehicles with defective equipment, such as bad brakes, worn tires and defective lighting equipment. Also, troopers will look for people violating Florida driver's license laws.
