Stores lining up for Mitchell Ranch

(ran PW, PS editions)

Pasco shoppers will have a host of new stores to hit for their back-to-school wardrobes next year.

Ross Stores and Marshalls, along with PetsMart and Publix supermarket, are some of the major tenants now signed for Mitchell Ranch Plaza, a 350,000-square foot shopping center being developed at the southeast corner of State Road 54 and Little Road.

Officials from AIG Baker, the Birmingham, Ala.-based developer that's building the center, confirmed the tenant names Tuesday.

The center is going up next to the future site of Community Hospital, which bought 53 acres there in June. The hospital, now located farther north in the city, plans to move in about five years. The state approved the move, but will hear appeals from other hospitals next May.

The grand opening for Mitchell Ranch Plaza is scheduled for Aug. 11, 2003. A number of other tenants have signed leases, including the Leaning Tower restaurant, a diner, a Chinese takeout restaurant, and hair and nail salons, a spokeswoman for AIG Baker. There will not be a movie theater, which was originally planned for the site, said AIG's Dianne Cotton.

"At this time, we've just decided not to do a movie theater," she said.

There are outparcels for sale at the site, for fast-food restaurants and banks, but sales have not yet been completed, Cotton added.
