THRASHERS 4, PANTHERS 3 (OT)

Shawn McEachern scored a power-play goal 3:23 into overtime for host Atlanta, converting a crossing pass from Vyacheslav Kozlov. Atlanta's Patrik Stefan tied it at 3 with 6:16 left, sneaking a wrist shot through Roberto Luongo's pads from a sharp angle.

Also, the Thrashers reached a tentative agreement on a contract with free-agent goalie Byron Dafoe. The deal was announced between periods by general manager Don Waddell, who said he hoped to make it official today.

CANADIENS: Goalie Jose Theodore, the league MVP last season, will miss at least two games with a strained a muscle in his left hip.

ISLANDERS: Forward Oleg Kvasha is out for at least two weeks after aggravating an ankle injury. Defenseman Radek Martinek was sent to the minors for a conditioning stint.

RED WINGS: Defenseman Jason Woolley, who was acquired Saturday from Buffalo and played for Michigan State from 1989-91, donated $115,000 to the school's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
