Blaze damages roof of Dodge dealership

A fire Wednesday damaged the roof of Dayton Andrews Dodge and snarled traffic along 34th Street for more than an hour.

The fire started at 1 p.m. as two workers for RAF Roofing spread a chemical sealant on the roof of the car dealership at 2301 34th St. N.

One of the roofers was treated for smoke inhalation after trying to extinguish the flames with a hose. No one else was injured. The fire did not spread to the showroom, where about six cars were parked. "It could have been worse, as they say," said owner Dayton Andrews.

Bus terminal repairs

affect some routes

ST. PETERSBURG _ The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority temporarily closed the southern half Central Plaza Terminal on Tuesday for construction repairs. As a result, a number of route changes will be in effect until Wednesday.

Bus passengers riding Routes 11, 14 and 15, northbound Routes 18, 52 and 79, and westbound Routes 3 and 35 will continue to travel on Central Avenue. Those routes will stop at a temporary bus stop east of 32nd Street.

Passengers riding northbound on Route 19 from 34th Street will turn right on First Avenue S, then turn left into Central Plaza Terminal to Platform 1.

Passengers riding eastbound on Route 7 from Central Avenue will turn right on 34th Street, left on First Avenue S, then left into Platform B. PSTA spokeswoman Janet Recca said bus service should return to normal next week.
