Board decides on property valuations

The Hernando County Value Adjustment Board on Wednesday made its final decisions on some 80 petitions filed by property owners seeking to have the assessed value of their holdings changed in 2002. In total, 151 petitions were filed by those taking issue with the county property appraiser's valuation, 71 of them were withdrawn after settlements were reached between petitioners and the appraiser's office. The remainder were reviewed by specialists hired by the Value Adjustment Board. They overturned two decisions by the appraiser's office. One case involved a reduction in the assessed value of a home from $33,276 to $12,000; the other a reduction in the assessed value of property owned by Accuform Investments LLC from $2,255,626 to $2,000,000.
