Gulf High student accused

of having knife on campus

NEW PORT RICHEY _ A 15-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday when school officials found he was carrying a knife at Gulf High School.

The Times is withholding the boy's name because of his age. According to his arrest report, school officials got a tip he was carrying drugs, which turned out not to be true. But while searching the student, they found a 4[-inch butterfly knife.

The boy told Pasco County sheriff's deputies he forgot the knife was in his pocket when he went to school. He was taken to the Pasco County Juvenile Assessment Center facing a charge of possession of a weapon on school grounds.
